" Scientists Announce Creation of Atomic Element, the Heaviest Yet" - Washington Post, October 17, 2006 It was alleged that a lead researcher, Victor Ninov, fabricated the experimental data that indicated the formation of three element 118 atoms. Researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory previously reported the synthesis of element 118 in 1999, and later retracted their results when subsequent experiments failed to confirm their discovery. The Element 118’s 65-pound weight is supported by two one-piece outriggers of polished stainless steel that are seamlessly integrated with the visual design, and add 4.4 of width and 2.1 of height to the amp’s overall dimensions. Uses of Ununseptium (Tennessine) At the moment, the element is only used for the purpose of research. The discovery was reported in the American Physical Society journal Physical Review C on October 9, 2006. Tennessine Element 117 is a superheavy element on the periodic table, which does not occur naturally, are synthesized by exposing a radioisotope target to a beam of another specific isotope. Although element 118 is too unstable to detect directly, the presence of daughter elements resulting from the decay of element 118 gave clues to its fleeting existence. Ernest Rutherford and Frederick Soddy found that the radioactive thorium they kept in the lab spontaneously. At the turn of the last century, physicists discovered the process of nuclear transmutation, whereby one chemical element can be converted into another, via nuclear decay.
